About Utopia

 

What ?

A Hong Kong student (The protagonist) who had a dream about freedom. However, because of the society and the education system, she felt very stressful. She tried hard to be a “successful” child, but this expectation made her more painful.

When ?

When the protagonist was in F.6 and year1 of associate degree, she started to have some emotional diseases. However, her parents and the people around her couldn’t understand her feelings and how stressful she was. She was dead at the age of 19.

 

Who ?

The protagonist is the only main character in the video. When she was studying at school and working, there were different people (such as her boss and parents) giving her pressure.

 

Where ?

This story happened in Hong Kong because I think that students suicide is a social issue here. There are different scenes in the video representing the pressure that the protagonist suffered because of many different people and events.

Why ?

I want to draw some of the HK students' story and express their feeling, so the others can know that what they are thinking. I hope that the others don’t judge the death students anymore after watching this video. Of course, I also feel stressful when I am too many work to do, it makes me think of this idea.

How ?

I choose to draw this story because there are some scenes which will be difficult to film with actors. Also, I think drawings can help the audience having a deeper insight and understanding about the protagonist’s feeling.
