〈Herman Event〉

Have you heard about “Herman Event”? It is so horrible…

On 1st November, Our group—Hyper Hentai and my boyfriend, went to Shing Mun Reservoir to take video. We met at Tsuen Wan MTR station at 9:00a.m. Then we bought plots and went to the destination.

After we arrived, we started taking the video. Although there were bees and monkeys and they were horrible, we got on smoothly.

Because of the sky becoming dark, we took the video until 5:00p.m. and planned to go home. At that time, one of our group members, Herman, said that he knew how to leave faster, so we followed his instruction.

We all didn’t know it was the beginning of the terror…

After 5 minutes, we were on the way. We were tired but we still believed that we could go home quickly. However, 15 minutes went by and we are still walking on uphill.

“Herman, why is there still uphill? You know, we need to go home immediately.” I said.

“Don’t worry, we will be downhill now.” Herman answered.

We continued walking, but we could not see any light, people or car there. There was dark because it was late. We began to feel confused and tried to find a map on the way. Finally we knew that we were encircling the whole Shing Mun Reservoir.

It meant that we were not going back.

We were angry and scolded Herman. He knew he was wrong, so he helped us to take the tools and plots. We walked about 1hour and 30 minutes. It was not a long time but it was a painful experience.

First of all, the way was very difficult to walk, I just wore sandals, so my feet were aching. Then we did not know how long the way was. We just kept walking and walking. Although we song in order to relax, we were scared that we could not leave. Lastly, there was danger because it was dark and many kinds of animals. For example, there were monkeys, bees and cows. I thought it was very horrible. Moreover, our groupmates walked quickly because they wanted to leave. I could not follow their speed and I was the last one. Luckily my boyfriend waited for me and chatted with me. He made me feel safe.

At the end, we came back to city successfully. It was the first time that when we saw the light and cars, we felt excited. Although we had dinner together, we said nothing and just felt tired.

On the next day, I was sick. We called it “Herman Event”, and we all remembered who was Tong Hei Man.

After Herman Event, I have learnt 3 things.

Firstly, believe myself. Actually when Heman said that the other way could went back faster, I though the way which we had walked was better. I tried to ask the others’ opinions, but most of them believed Herman. If I had tried to stand strong or go back by the original way, I would not have been sick and my feet would not have been pain.

Secondly, I learn to solve problem with creative ideas. When there was dark, we could not see the way clearly. We thought that there was dangerous, so we used the spotlight to shine the way.

Finally, I learnt about persistence. I was not persistent then. I used to give up quickly so that I did not know the feeling when I finish a job. After Herman Event, I will never forget the moment when we find the bus to go back to Tsuen Wan. I will be more patient and do well in my work.
